The CRYPT Mag

Sheene Run Photocade
Part One

These photos cover half the circuit around which the bikes will run. There is no charge for spectators to watch the cavalcades as they ride the circuit. Rugby is unique in that it is the only town which has closed its roads to allow exclusive access to specific motor vehicles, particularly motorcycles.
The only other place to do so, is the Ilse of Man for the TT races, but that is the whole island, not just a town.

Comments

Some comments received regarding the day from participants and spectators

Martin Bennett – compere - “The event was absolutely fantastic and it’s bringing motorcycling to the general public. It’s a moving tribute and a museum at the same time. I really hope we can do this every year as it commemorates the great personality that Barry Sheene was. He still brings a lot of pleasure to a lot of people through this event.”

Steve Parrish, Barry’s former team mate and friend – “It’s amazing for the motorcycling community to have the whole town centre for the day.”

Neil Hellings, Chief Executive of the ACU – “This was a truly unique event, the highlight of course being those bikes that had been ridden by Barry. “To see thousands of people, both motorcyclists and non-motorcyclists, enjoy a full day’s entertainment makes the effort worthwhile.”

Danny Whitmee, Motor-vation, who helped organise a last minute demonstration of twelve Supermoto stunt riders – “People found it extremely exciting. We only became involved at the last minute but lads travelled from all over the country to take part.”
